User mailboxes that were migrated from Exchange into O365 had the most problems no matter how many items there were. Every message, folder, appointment, meeting, draft, etc. I think the number Apple gave me was 30k. Moving those folders outside the inbox cleared up alpt of the sync errors but not all of them. Users with large folder structures inside the inbox folder had non stop issues. IIRC, The root cause of the sync issies has something to do with the number of items in the inbox. Personally I think it looks and functions better than the Mail app. Now I remove the mail app during provisioning (JAMF) and force install the Outlook app. Both of them told me that O365 email was not supported on the native mail app. Even had a ticket open with Microsoft and Apple. Fought this for a while about a year ago.
